... into the streets on the weekends and there is a huge selection of nightclubs and party spots to choose from. You have to be on your guard though, for packs of armed children or homeless crack addicts. The indiscreet presence of heavily armed policemen should keep you aware that you are not in the safest of areas. Although I cannot say that I ever had a problem or felt unsafe despite what other people may have experienced.

... was take a shower and sleep horizontally. By the time we got to Rio it was 06:00, we managed to catch a cab to our new home. V sent final coordinates while we were en route to Rio. He had done well to find us a lovely apartment in the heart of copacabana. Now 511 Apart Hotel is so familiar and feels like it's always been home ��. ... that into perspective with the fact that we were able to see it from pretty much all over.. it was huge and definitely a site to see! We made it to the hotel around 10:45AM so about a 45 minute cab ride.

... for the World Cup was really starting to build! The next day we followed a walking tour outlined in the lonely planet that took us to a park where independence from Portugal was declared.
