We retraced our steps back to the park today and manged to avoid the temptation of the bird hides and headed for the Atlantic Coast. We still had to run the gauntlet of tortoises, lizards, birds, bugs, snakes, deer etc as we made our way along. How anyone manages a speed over 20 mph in this place without slaughtering a ton of wildlife is a mystery to me!
    The coast was wild ...

    All creatures great and small.

... Moving on to the next hide we had weavers and ducks and geese and grebes and harriers......phew! In amongst all this we also saw more tortoises, steenbok, duikers, ostriches, 2 enormous puff adders and a herd of eland and a mongoose. Exhausting!
We had dinner at Pearly's on the beach and watched the sunset with ridiculously cheap cocktails and exceptionally good grub.
What a fantastic day......and we get to do it all over again ...

We had a lovely drive up the coast and arrived at our hotel in Langebaan to find a spa voucher and a bottle of champagne waiting for me! All courtesy of Steph and Hayley - a lot of conspiring has occurred I suspect! Cheers ladies!!
We had a lovely meal at the hotel and drank the fizz of course! A stroll to the beach in the darkness revealed nothing but lights in the distance. We would have to wait another day to see how lovely it ...

... the tidal pool to the beach where I found some amazing rocks to photograph. We decide not to stay at Chapman’s Peak Caravan Park (R180) and drove to the caravan Park at Kommetjie. (R 140) it is dark so will be able to judge this park tomorrow – for now I am tired and sleepy and happy....been a good day! ...

    Good Decisions

... venue--made me think of Red Rocks in Colorado (not for the presence of any red sandstone, but because of the naturally (and artificially) beautiful outdoor setting. After the concert, I went to dinner with Carly and her friends and then out to a beachside club until late. It was really great to see Carly and talk to her about abroad decisions and about life. Regarding decisions, and specifically this one to come abroad, I so often think ...
