... about 15 of us, again totally out of my comfort zone as I soon learnt that Barry picks you out and says ‘what do you think about that’! Surprisingly the questions I was asked I knew and I managed to make a comment :) The class finished around 7 and we had supper with the Zulu people. The volunteers went back to Barry and Wendeth’s house for dinner, Wendeth made a delicious pasta bake and salad, it was so good to have a ...

The last couple of weeks have probably been my toughest weeks yet. A mixture of the "unknown" leading to a lot of frustration. I understand there's a process, I didn't really take part in the "process" when we first applied, in hindsight I'm grateful that others helped us out and took charge of a lot of it, we just got the approval message and that was it, we were going to Africa! The process to stay a second year has not been so smooth. It frustrates me, from where ...

... side!! Ooops!! Once we were directed to our female side we were given our plates of food and ate like the locals with our hands. The white corn meal didn’t taste of much but was obviously the filling part of the meal and was good to soak up the juices from the veg dishes. They were delicious although still very hot and I burnt my fingers trying to eat!! Clearly I’m not quite a local yet! We enjoyed our meal but felt really bad that we ...
