Hi Everyone, Hope you all had a nice Christmas. It has been a while since we have updated the blog. We have been so busy sightseeing here we just haven't had a chance to get to an internet cafe. Thank you everyone for all the nice Christmas wishes. We were excited to come to South Africa from East Africa, as much as we were very sad to leave the eastern part behind. We were in a taxi heading to the airport to catch the flight to South Africa and were holding back a little tear. We wondered if...
Pretoria, South Africa audreyandjack... VERY quickly. 'Anaconda' was awesome too, where you sit and strapped in, jandals were kicked off and you dangle as you get taken around a roller coaster track but you go really quickly you don't get the gut dropping sensation when you feel like you're about to fall out of your seat going upside down! Wimpy again for lunch (I'm sure our parents aren't going to recognise us once we're home... we're going to be sooo fat!), and we made friends with the locals, three 5month old kittens ...
Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa mbsteve... out as its the home of my good girlfriend Marilia. Managed to find our way through the city's one way street system. Started to walk up pedestrian mall when we heard shouts and saw people running. A fight had broken out amongst some lads. Starving so grabbed a pie... I swear all I seem to eat are steak pepper pies! Headed ...
Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa oliveramber... 5 different eco systems from that spot. One being the Indian Ocean, which later we went down to the beach and i went snorkeling. Saw a few very colourful fish, sorry no pictures of them, i didn't bring a water proof camera. But i could use one. hint hint.. :-) on our way out from Cape Vidal we got a glimpse at the Samango monkey, but it is on the endangered species list, so we were very fortunate, and they are very quick. On ...
Pretoria, South Africa exploring... weren't to happy with it at the time. I just wanted pictures, and it was cool to hear them. These few days with this group was also to cover a fair distance so there was a lot of driving as well and not as much happening. The only other thing that was of interest really was the two nights we stayed outside the Kruger National park. The camp was Bushman Camp and it was really neat, they did a wonderful job with the area. We did a night game drive when we got ...
Johannesburg, South Africa exploringKatie, Tom, Sarah and I landed in Johannesburg on Saturday. We made our way to the "Ritz," the backpacker hotel we were booked in for the night. Jo'burg, with a reputation as a violent, crime ridden city, is surrounded by a number of very wealthy suburbs. The Ritz Backpackers happened to be located in Dunken West, which was a very wealthy and beautiful suburb. As luck would have it, we were sent to the annex, which ended up being a house we had all to ...
Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa itsgotime"I have come to report a crime", I said 'A what?' the police officer replied, his nose wrinkled as he tried to understand "A crime. CRIME. I have been a victim of a crime and I would like to report it" 'Oh. Ok. Don't worry. Over 70% of people in South Africa have been a victime of a crime, so you are not the only one. Please take a seat.' Surprisingly it only took just over one hour to file a report and open a case against the gangsters that have ...

Edenglen, Johannesburg, South Africa tashanddebs... where we are staying with Craig's family and enjoying some more African hospitality. We had a wonderful trip, no major problems, lots of little challenges, spectacular scenery, and outstanding people we met throughout the trip. To travel through Africa like this you have to keep on your toes, but we were lucky to go through 10 countries and 10 border crossings without losing a thing (we shouldn't speak too soon though!) Hope our luggage gets home? We had a wonderful ...
