      Bloemfontein

A travel blog entry by mikeandmary on Sep 04, 2014

Heading for the town of Bloemfontein to visit a national museum unfortunately
we could not get anywhere to park as it is in the middle of the town. We then

it closed. It was extremely interesting and went into a lot of
detail about the Concentration camps, which were first introduced by
the British so that the men would have no one to go back to for ...

Still, Bloemfontein is a nice enough place, even if there isn't really much specifically for tourists to see. Spent a day just wandering, stocking up on bits and pieces before heading over to Lesotho tomorrow.

      The tour

... we went...I'm not sure I was quite prepared for when we got there. The tour guide was not actually a tour guide; he was a history professor from the campus - which was actually pretty neat. But, he was not particularly good with transitions and talking you into the next location that we would get to - we'd drive a bit, and end up somewhere then he would tell us why we were there. There was no transition that led us into the township. We just were all of a sudden there. I'm ...
