... the rocks and we explored only half of what was there due to time !We sampled some local Brazilian buffet style food for €6 each, we had a main meal and much to Niamh's delight dessert too !!
Then went to "Top of the World" to watch the sunset and people para-gliding off the highest point in Belo Horizonte. We went out for drinks that evening, which was surprisingly chilly !!
... did we know that our wonderful friends had an incredible surprise. Too tired to notice, but overjoyed when we did, a group of kids had come with Gordon and Silene to pick us up and they had created two wonderful banners written in English and they had even practiced singing us a song in English (see the attached photo and video). So then off to the vans we headed to be taken out to the Community Center about 30 ...
When I came home from work, I realised that everyone in the house had thrown out all of my food from the fridge (presumably because it went off while I was away). This annoyed me. I purposely bought un ripe veggies so they would still be good when I got home. I planned for this. Not happy Jan.
I got a pleasant surprise tonight when Martyn finally called me and I got to chat to him for a bit. Turns out that he is now an Australian. Best day ever.
I went for a walk to se if I could catch the end of the Feira Hippie, but when I got there it was a washed out rainy mess of rubbish. It's pretty impressive how these guys turn the street back to a functioning road after the amount of **** that gets dumped on the floor. Brazilian efficiency.
A bit more study in the afternoon rounded out my day. ...
... which is the star lookout here. It gives such an amazing view of the city. You can see all of the buildings, the favelas, the rich upper class areas with houses worth millions and millions of dollars. It's pretty special. I love lookouts.
The mountains in the background though, are where Belo Horizonte (beautiful horizon) gets its name. Who ever name the place wasn't blind that's for ...
