Abenteuer ist relativ.

... vom Blitz erschlagenen Sonnenuhr.
OK. Und wegen der Aussicht!

Die Verwirrung am Abschiedstag war groß. Ich musste zurück nach Vilnius über Kaunas. Er wollte ...

1. Kommt alles anders und 2. als man denkt!

... Amis sind ja so furchtbar! Offensichtlichere Floskeln gibs ja wohl GAR NICHT! Aber ich bin ja nicht unhöflich: "Where are you from?" - "US. Nice Shirt." - "Thanks."

Nida & the Hill of Crosses

... town there were no tourists, no people as it was off season. We felt like we had whole town only for us...and the beaches!
There are also interesting places to see nearby, including some of the highest sand dunes in Europe, fisherman's ethnographic museum, gallery-museum of amber, neo-Gothic church (built in 1888).

Klaipeda

It took just over 3 hours to drive from Vilnius to Klaipeda with very light traffic. The drive is a little boring, but comfortable. The Magnisima Hotel is in the new (er) part of town within walking distance from the old town and with a secure parking lot in the rear. The room (#7) is very spacious and tastefully furnished. The street misses a couple of light poles, so gets a ...

Palanga & 1000 year Lithuanian celebration

... celebrations are being held. It is hard to find. I and many others go down some dead ends before finding the path. It is packed with thousands of people. A naval ship is decked out. Huge monitors show the performers who sing, dance and talk. The culmination is the national anthem, supposedly synced with spots all over the world. Very cool to participate in something so monumental for the Lithuanian people.

Out to the coast

... back and taking in the scenery. Since summer season has now drawn to a close, it's considerably quieter now as well, which means I should be able to enjoy the place in relative peace and quiet. And that's precisely what I plan to do tomorrow, as I head down to the main rural nerve centers of Nida and Juodkrante for the day tomorrow. As long as the weather's anywhere near as nice as it was today, it should be a lovely, laidback change of pace from the usual city-romping.

... Acid in my legs. Eventually got back to Nida damp and exhausted. Where unfortunately I was 5 km short when I got caught up in a quick rain shower. Travelling back on the bus to Klaipeda I bumped into some guys from my hostel who were easy persuade to go out for a meal and a few drinks to help neutralize the aching that is starting to start effect from the ...

Klaipeda and the Curoanian Spit

... into any of the towns down the way or peer over the border into Kaliningrad. VERY annoyed but that's the berloody annoying thing about travelling over easter i suppose. Decided to do a loop walk that took us about 2 hours - checked out the beautiful beaches - too bad their summer only lasts for 8 weeks! the setting/nature/beaches really reminded us of home; partly like a ...

... some guy stole his camera in France in 1965 and he refuses to buy another one! On the big day when we decided to head out to the spit. We slept in. Well not really. It was 10:30 and everyone else was gone. We went halway down the spit to a place called Juodkrante. We walked about 2 k's to the beach then fell asleep for a couple of hours. Woke up walked back 2 k's to the bus stop and caught the bus a half hour down to Nida. It was a nice little village with a sand dune and sailing ships ...
