On 9/7/13 will stay in Eddyville, Kaintuck...... possibly named after some of my Eddy relatives. Will try to find out.
Eddyville, the seat of Lyon county, was settled around 1798 and named for the eddies in the nearby Cumberland River.
Guess not. hahaha
... returning. Even if he got hurt, what would we do? Kayak back in the middle of a lightning storm?
I cursed myself for not considering this. I'd even looked at the weather and knew it was supposed to storm!
What if something happens to the kayak?
I trembled slightly at my fearful thoughts.
What if it were like this all day tomorrow? How would we get back.
Tornados were possible here too, weren't they?

My first historic battlefield did not disappoint. Even though Ft. Donelson wasn't that large, it provided a great deal of history.
Charged with protecting the Confederate held river from Union advance, the cannons at Ft. Donelson were able to hold off initial attacks from Union ironclads although Union ground forces were eventually able to take the area.

Out next stop on the way to St. Louis was Cadiz, Kentucky. We stayed at the Kentucky Lakes/Prizer Point Marina and KOA. The campground sits on Lake Barkley. Our site was right on the lake with a beautiful view. We arrived around 3:00 pm again and shortly thereafter went to explore the area. Spent a few days with my Mom before heading to Wyoming. It was nice seeing her and I got a "pressure-cooker" supper which was a staple when I was a kid.
Purchased a 6'x12' enclosed trailer to haul my bike. Visited some of my former co-workers at Baptist Health. Saw one of my bff's Doug and Tracey. Went to Southern IL and saw some of my good friends.
