After the 8 hour journey we just wanted to get to a hotel room and rest. The first hotel in the book turned out to be a failure and they were fully booked, so on to the next one in the book which was on the other side of the station. We decided to get a cycle rickshaw to the other side as we had our massive bags and didn’t want to further knacker ourselves out.

The street where my hotel is, is a 6 lane road with a 20 ft impeccable pavement on both sides (never mind that two wheelers are merrily zipping upon it in true Indian style ; at least it is there). I think its time to consider abandoning Bangalore, where the word pavement has not yet entered the dictionary.

Its just a night halt here and I will be on the road again come morning. Orissa is not my target this time.

I arrived yesterday evening and it was not easy to find an hotel, all full, except for a miserable and expensive room that I found after an hour of walking around the railway station.
This morning I labored to find the tourist office in Bubaneshwar and when I got there, I found that the tours begin from tomorrow, so I took a rick shaw and went in search of the temples of the Middle Ages, cute, stone ...

... in India when I leave. So back to the story. We went into the home and met these beautiful one month old twin boys. I will let the pictures speak for themselves except to say the younger woman is Kabita who is Manoj's sister and the older woman is not the grandmother, but a woman from the village who was helping out. Apparently it is a custom that when mothers give birth the "grandmothers" in the village come and help out. What a treat for all ...
