Also, 1 Jahr Südamerika wartet auf mich ...
Paderborn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany halfcap... talked story and it was nice to relax and sleep in a bed that wasnt in a hostel.
Day 22: In the morning Antje, her sister and her niece drove me up to a beautiful view over Sauerland called Faulebutter. In the evening we then met up with Antje's friends and had dinner and then went to a lake and spent the evening talking and hanging out...
Bestwig, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany hinejeremyAnother foggy morning, and I really do not want to leave. However, we are off. Me back to Houston, Claudia back to work. A big resounding "BOO" from both of us! Germany was wonderful, and I highly recommend it to anyone ---> great food ...
Paderborn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany kmwest422... name of one of them . . . .
After that we walked down to the River Pader and strolled along that for a bit, through a little park and a really nice area in the city. On a sunny day it would be great to sit and hang out for awhile, but today it was starting to rain some more! We went back to the apartment and had some leftover goulash. That night we went to Claudia's friend Sandra at Club ...
Paderborn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany kmwest422We got up fairly early and had breakfast, then decided to head back to Paderborn. Claudia drove out of the city and then I drove for a couple of hours. We arrived in Paderborn around 15.00 or so, and went out to do some shopping for food. We swung by the Post Office to send out some postcards, then we hit the grocery store so I could buy some chocolates and things to bring home with me. The day ...
Paderborn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany kmwest422... for our troubles to buy some food, but they didn't tell us that it had to be used all at once. So, about 45 minutes before we were going back in through security, we went to Starbucks. We got some coffee and a hazelnut chocolate muffin (I will just abbreviate fat American from this point on with FA, so the muffin was for the FA), but it only used up about 10 Euros. So we got two bottles of apple juice and a bottle of water ...
Paderborn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany kmwest422... listen you can learn a lot! When the coffee and kuchen is gone, the next course involves serving liqueur or wine or juice with some salty treats. The conversation continues (in our home it was in German and English) until it is time to leave. Both men and women participate in this activity and, because of the timing, it usually includes mostly "pensioners" (retired folks, like ...
Naumburg, Germany barbg... sought shelter with whomever would take me in for a day, a week or a month. I've been the guest of Mark Ritsema in Rotterdam, my old friend Donald McSorley from Detroit at his art gallery/home outside of Hilversum, Clay Windham from New Orleans at his anti-squat recording studio in Holendrecht, Alan Lieberman at the Get Lucky Hotel, Andrew & Rita Jones at their beautiful place just off the Nieuwmarkt, and at the apartment in the Pijp that ...
Frankfurt, Germany johnsinclair... is so great, and filled with people enjoying Bratwurst and beer, mulled-wine and roasted nuts. It is a feast of the senses, and very festive. It is hard not to be swept up in the spirit of the season. Now that I have access to a computer with English commands, I will try posting some photos here. Let me know how it works. I hope everyone is happy and healthy, and managing to enjoy this time, we are truely blessed.
Kassel, Germany dragland... tonight has put me in a much better mood, and I hope to spend the next little while recharging my batteries. Amsterdam was an architectural dream come true, and I really enjoyed my few days there. I could absolutely see myself going to school and living there. So sorry, but I am really tired tonight. I promise to write more soon.............
