    Another bumpy day's drive covering only 200 kilometers in 9 hours saw us into the Private Hotel, paying for the use of a bathroom, and very poor internet, at $40 for the night parking the two vehicles on their terrain.

    ... only been in there a minute or so when three bus loads of thai tourists descended on the place so beat a hasty retreat to the temple across the road which was the monastery of the Shan King. Much nicer place & lots more peaceful except out back where there was a stage set up & an elderly man playing what looked a little like a type of guitar & singing traditional Shan songs.     ... house which held 30 families & 115 people! A very tight squeeze. Walked back to the monastery & had a cup of green tea with the monk. The building was in a state of disrepair but had obviously at one point had a lot of money spent on it. The Buddha image inside had an unusual face - we had to get the key from the monk to go inside.     ... a little girl on her way down to the school-already half an hour late but would have been even more so by the time she arrived after watching us walk up(don't get many foreigners!). Met the two ladies from California on the way up with their trekking guide.
