Princess Santorini Villa Perissa

Our relaxed schedule meant that we had one last day to enjoy what Fira could offer. We visited the museum that houses the finds from Akrotiri – lots of pottery and some interesting wall paintings. A small gold animal figurine was particularly impressive. The museum is modern and well displayed, but as we were the only visitors there we didn't really enjoy the personal security supervision that followed us from exhibit to exhibit like a distrustful overseer.

... camp up here? The arrow in the other direction had a Greek symbol on it that looked like an r so we took that route. This involved skirting the main crater, which was steaming and smelling strongly of sulphur. In my mind I was wondering how much warning you get before a volcano erupts, but I didn’t let on.

We headed back to Fira, gave back the keys to the car and then had dinner at the Pelican Cafe. Now this is a place I can recommend. Food of immense quality in the coolest of surroundings. If you are in Fira makes sure you visit here. It was so good in fact that we decided to come back here tomorrow for my birthday. Better sign off now and get some beauty sleep as I will wake to find myself another year older...

There are simple ways of getting to Oia (or Ia as it is also know and how you pronounce it), such as bus, taxi or hire car. But who needs simple? I had read as part of my research about the wonderful walk between Fira and Oia and I thought we'd give it a try. Loading up the backpack with some supplies (but forgetting water of all things) we set off through the town of Fira which seamlessly turns into Firostafani. The walking tour yesterday was great! We walked around to the Temple of Zeus, the Parliment, the president's house, Agora, a couple churches and the Acropolis. Every hour or two I'd remember I was in Athens Greece again and jump up and down with a big smile on my face (in the back of the group of course) and think 'I made it! I'm in Athens!' Also, yesterday was International Museum Day so we got into all the museums and sites for free. When we went ...

... out for the donkeys, they will run you over if you dont move... I just saw like a 65 year old women almost get trampled by one of them!!! Some of them have bells to warn people that they are coming... and some do not!! Tomorrow we are planning on going on a boat tour thing to see the caldera and some hot springs place... The ice creams and dessert selections blew us away!!

He made me pay more money for missing my stop and told me the next stop was Piraeus at 5am! it was not his problem and I had to buy then another ticket for santorini at a travel agent. That was all the help I got from him. In my confused and anoyed state I had no idea where he was meaning.
