The first beach we have stopped at was part of the 5 star hotel Nicco. Amazing long and nice beach, and great for surfing. You can also ride a camel there.

Nearby is Geger beach which is better for swimming and with flat water. So next time if you want a relaxing holiday and a nice beach, then Nusa Dua is the best. It is more expensive though, as only the high end hotels are here.

... appealing, it also was quite reminiscent of a construction zone. I had a basic lunch, which seemingly didn't kill me and kicked back with my book. Well that was until someone decided to start using an angle grinder in the middle of the "restaurant" which I took as my queue to exit.

Once again, the touts were out in great force. I somewhat felt like I looked like a walking money machine, and if they could hassle and cajole me enough ...
