... local restaurant Riolet where we have eaten three times during our week here. It has been great that such good food is right on our doorstep. The weather could have been better but we have really enjoyed our week here in Lake Garda. The scenery is breathtaking and except for the number of German tourists, the towns, churches, food and culture have been wonderful to visit and experience. Thank you Lake Garda and Villa Borgo (Patio) for the great ...

... cultural education and the first time at the opera for the boys. Carmen was to have four acts and by 10.15pm we arrived at the end of the first act. We decided to leave and head home. We decided to see if we could find a restaurant a bit off the beaten track but had no luck - it was funny old town, crowded into a limited space with lots of touristy shops and not much more. Heading back towards Gargnano felt like a better option so we hopped back into the car. The road back was ...

... back to the villa the boys and Geoff were in the pool. I joined them for a family swim before heading back to the villa for a rest before dinner. We headed out to dinner to the agritourismo that we booked earlier in the week. It was up the mountain from where we are staying and of course it was still raining, making the hairpin bends and the roads that much more difficult. Arriving safely, we ran for shelter and were seated in a beautiful dining room in an old converted farm house. ...

... of narrow streets inside the city walls and a long impressive waterfront promenade. 4th position goes to tiny east coast villagio of Castelletto. It's just a blip between overrated Malcesine and the larger Garda, but has a great little harbour dotted with fishing boats and lined with restaurants. Yep, had a spritz there as well. Sirmione gets our vote for 3rd position, although it is just a little bit 'too loved' by ...
