Not so glamorous Bergamo

... to reach there.

Well from the outside of city there is a breathtaking view of the upper town but once you are in it I woudn't say the same. Still there is plenty to see wandering around the streets and lots of lovely churches to explore. But it's definitely not the best medieval town in Italy.

... We were in awe (see all the pictures I took which does not do the view justice). After this, we walked around the city until we found the botanical gardens. Sadly, some of it was closed due to the cold (it had snowed a couple days before). So we decided to walk to the Castello di San Vigilio on the top of the mountain. We saw that this road would take us there and it looked short and straight. However, the ...

the approaching 1960s hydrofoil, straight out of a James Bond film.
We suddenly realised that we could make it after all and dashed to
the ticket office to get our hop-on hop-off all day tickets. The
boat paused briefly as we boarded and took off on a two hour trip to
the top of the lake. The waves rolling down ...

Four Lakes

... final hour of riding took us to Sirmione at the southern end of Lake
Garda. Our hotel proved very comfortable with a lake view of sorts
and good facilities. The walk into the town was slightly longer than
expected but mostly along the lake front which made it pleasant. Our
evening meal at a nearby pizza restaurant proved to be a good
recommendation by the hotel staff. The food was very good and the
restaurant deservedly popular with the locals. ...
