... used my final day of my eurrail pass for this trip only to find that the trip from Visp station to the Zermatt was not valid despite being told by two train operators that it was. I also couldn't get through to the girl at the station that my eurrail pass allows me discounts for the train but she kept telling me, 'no, no, you can't use anymore days it's full'. Today wasn't the first time I have been stuffed around by the Swiss. It's hard to believe that Einstein was educated here.
... town of Zermatt and its Matterhorn views.
Zermatt is a very small town of only 5000 people with no petrol fueled vehicles at all. They have little electric taxis and horse drawn carriages to take people around. Very cute.
We made our way to our hotel which was unfortunately up a small hill. This would have been ok except for we took a couple of wrong turns and our backpacks were getting heavy!

... not much is going on. The stores were all closed until December so we had to pack up all our groceries from Interlaken. We settled in and just hung out. Played some pool, cards, and did a small little walk up the hill in the afternoon on our first day. The night turned a little more exciting. Even though it was the off season the hostel was still really busy. A crowd of about 20 people formed and in these little hostels everyone eventually starts ...
Gimmelwald, Swiss Alps, Switzerland mike81... in the airport looking for our gate. He was checking in to the Mountain Hostel! It was so weird to run in to a fellow travelor I had met previously. Anyway, Shem got us in to the hostel. We had pizza, beer, and played pool. This place was full of American travelors. Some had just arrived, others ...
Gimmelwald, Switzerland teickhoff... huge face of the Jungfrau, beside the Eiger and Monch peaks, and on the other side of the valley are several lovely little towns and a peak that we're going to the top of, called the Schilthorn. James Bond fans will remember it as the site of the revolving restaurant "Piz Gloria" that figures in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service." From the Schilthorn side, we'll be able to see the Eiger and the Jungfrau, instead of being on them, and since I'm assured that the ...
