Preveza, Epirus, Greece
Bridget writes….. Having tucked the boat up in the Marina we left Greece and flew back to the UK where I had some more tests at the hospital. We enjoyed some lovely days out visiting my parents in Worthing, Sheffield Park for the autumn colours and Eastbourne (amongst others) and the weather was lovely and bright. When the doctor said the results were good and that he didn't want to see me for 4 weeks we quickly booked ...
14/07/2008 Cristiano arrives at Igoumenitsa... he took the car and drove until Preveza, where I was staying in a friend's house...I went to take him from the high-way. He had a car full of stuff (even a tent) and together we went to my friend's house to have breakfast and then entered to our room...In the afternoon we went around in Preveza to have a drink...and we were going ...
Preveza, Epirus, Greece mariatc... could not care as much if we wander on the Odeon because its of Roman origin. Either way, it was a great place to see and explore. After Nikopolis, we drove up the coast to an oracle site called Necromandio. This was the most famous Oracle of the Dead. People would come here to communicate with the dead. There were other oracles of the same nature around the country but this was the most popular and the one that most people would venture to seek out. The ...
Preveza, Greece anp2... since this is a serious fish town). I had a big plate of whole anchovies - not really my thing, since I don't like dismantling my food before eating it, but tasty nonetheless. Then Patrick and I settled in for 2 hours at an internet cafe, which flew by before we knew it. Then it was time for afternoon ice cream, hot tub, and relaxing until dinner. A hard life, I know. As soon as the sun went down, we discovered the lights of a ...
Preveza, Greece mightbekatrina... the bride looked lovely, the groom spoke in both English and Greek and the best man had a local deputy to translate his speech. We think the entire town was there; everywhere you looked there was a familiar face, so anyone wanting to rent a bike, change money or do anything else after 11pm that night in Vassiliki would have had no alternative but to join the party.
After the previous experience with limited mileage, we took our business ...
... a bit lucky by hitting Ionian Regatta week here, so one of the holiday companies was short handed and took us on for work experience as we are known to them as repeat offender holidaymakers. Had a whale of a time; got asked to do beginner catamaran instruction (fortunately we had been forewarned and had swotted up) so there I was teaching a friendly Belgian couple how to tack and gybe two hulls at once. They speak good English and wanted to learn ...
Vassiliki, Greece heleng2... what may be our last trip here for a while continues with an excellent morning in a Laser 4000, trapezing in a wonderful force 3-4, enough for a good blast but not too much as to make it *************ly one capsize - mast floats are an excellent idea!
what next? Try to see the season out here if possible, watch this space.
lots of love from Helen (former IT consultant) and Andy (former automotive engineer)
... I can now helm an asymmetric (ok, only a Laser 2000) in a force 5 with an inexperienced crew and a kite up! Hopefully we're about there now - we competed in the Wildwind regatta yesterday and used the training Lasers, these turned out to be just the right boats for the conditions as two-handers were a nightmare and catamarans almost impossible. Helped by some skill and a large slice of luck, Andy won the two-race regatta overall and I was third. Very satisfactory.
A four-hour ...
