It's getting wet out here!!!!!

... group of flamingos that have just arrived here. Hopefully more will come soon and we can get some photos.

The Marina here is quite different to Marmaris, there being only 15 – 20 live aboard boats, so it is very quiet. We are still hoping to hire a car and explore the island before we leave……..if only it would stop raining!!!

The fortress also had a museum that we got to look around and take pictures in. The ruins of the building weren't too impressive, but there were tiled floors still in tact that were pretty amazing (those are the pics you have). The museum was pretty awesome. It had statues and sculptures and a sarcophagus. I was super happy that ...

A Pleasant Surprise

This morning was a "mystery stop" in Preveza, a costal town on the mainland. My book didn't have ANY info about it, so we figured we'd just hope for the best. And the best was right! It's a slightly bigger town, just enough to have some young folks, hip clubs, and quite a few shops and restaurants to choose from. It also seems like there's more money moving through here - everything's just a bit spiffier and there's some fancy ...

Vonistsa - Passage to Amvrakikos Klopos

AK. Andipaxos (Andipaxos) -> Vonistsa (ML)
Distance: 45M Winds: calm (30m), WSW 15-20 (15m)

We had decided to make the passage to the southern Ionian group early in our trip and we could either catch the bridge opening in Levkas directly or stage the passage with an overnight stop nearby. We decide to explore the Amvrakikos Klopos, a large gulf, just north ...

Excitement and Adventure and Really Wild Things

Before going out to Vassiliki I had a list of things that I either hoped would happen or intended to do. Some lucky breaks in the last two weeks have meant that all the boxes are ticked - and perhaps more!
The week of the boss's wedding kicked off with the infamous Tuesday barbecue, featuring a full reunion of the staff band as many familiar faces were out for the wedding. They don't do American Pie, but they do some excellent stuff as well as one or two ...

Top Cat

... I feel the wind I leap out on the trapeze rather than the previous tactic of merely getting tangled in ropes or falling over. So we stayed the right way up and went satisfyingly fast.
The company owner is getting married on Friday (we even have an invite!) and so again we are lending a hand while the celebrations occur. There is also a big reunion of ex-staff going on so tonight's musical entertainment looks very promising.
Yesterday it ...

... of the exacting standards required here, and got to try our skills on some real people by offering a free sailing lesson. This was just like being back at the IBRSC Tuesday Trysail and reminded us just why we decided to go down this path. So there was much partying followed by a couple of welcome days off. This included a chance to ease the bruises and wash the sailing gear, as people were beginning to move ...

Hopefully by the time of the next update we will have our tickets, with powerboat and first aid courses to do to complete the qualfication.our friends in Vassiliki (both holiday staff and locals) haven't forgotten us and we're having a wonderful time.
