... didn't rise, then, just as bike dismantling was about done, pitter patter of rain started and a mad rush to get stuff packed in the boot. The nice dry awning is now wet again and we're hoping the rain stops overnight to dry it out. Another 30 mins or so and everything would have been packed away nice and dry. 8.30 pm and it's still raining steadily..... We have also had a power cut this evening and did consider cooking the dinner on Gill's red, hot swollen ...

A scorchingly hot day, 34 degrees but we believe we are in more gently, undulating countryside so we set off on the tandem with 4 litres of water on board and a plan to buy more before the return journey. No thanks to Doris, we arrived at the site which is on Lake Vidlak. The Dutch owner gave us ...

... to tell me about the late John Heinz who was on the banking committee and by all accounts, thoughtful, charismatic, intelligent and a serious contender for the White House. Our memory is that he went down in his private plane, left the ranch to Theresa, who then married Kerry. I bumped into her at Golden Door many years ago and she was a profoundly miserable experience. So, other than watching our tax dollars wasted on him, we thoroughly ...

One of the nice things about this trip is that on our travels from one place to another the bus rride is punctuated with interesting stops, so that we get a chance to stretch and learn. Our first stop was at the REAL Budweiser brewery. The tour was OK, but many of our group really enjoyed. We had a taste of beer at 10 AM, not my usual routine! Next we stopped in the town of Trebon where we learned about the fishponds built in ...
