... had signs up for a Monterry-Chicago Fire soccer game. As it would turn out, the two teams were playing in the finals of some minor tournament. The game was in Chicago, but there were no shortage of viewing options in Monterrey, and we settled in to watch amongst a crowd that cheered at all the wrong times :) In a very close game, Monterrey won in a shoot out.

So that was Monterrey. And then we got back on a bus.
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico kimandjohn... of back alley in downtown Monterrey. It has a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom with AC! All for US$10 per night! Sometimes even though we seem to be taken care of - there's just no peace. Monterrey is a BEAUTIFUL city, although very Americanized. After two more meetings were set up for this weekend, we knew we had to cancel and keep moving. It was confirmed by MANY. The people were not happy, but oh well. On to Tampico!
Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico robandmillie... on God, and worship - or even hear myself think over the lady who is still screaming to my left, the cieling starts leaking on my left arm. Soon after, Rob gets up to preach. He did an amazing job! Afterwards, we went to lunch and shopped for some food.
Monday was a planned, well needed rest day and for Tuesday, we thought we'd take the train around town to see more of it's beauty. After all, Monterrey is a ...
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico millieradosti... we were in the city to meet my uncle Packie, who took time out of his busy schedule to show us around and entertain us. It was great to see him and catch up and get to see where he lives and works. He showed us around his schools and we met lots of his friends along the way. We had a few crazy journeys with his mental driving, definitely think he has God as his co ...
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico dixieannie... to a friend of hers who lives in Monterrey, Gabriela. As soon I arrived, I called Gabriela, who asked (almost like a mother) how I was, whether I have found an apartment, etc. and told me not to hesitate to contact her in case of emergency. She then took me around town. We had lunch and she helped me find a cell phone (no luck). Her personality was very friendly, almost flamboyant. Then, I moved into my apartment. It's ...

Monterrey, Mexico kiwi_kid... me. there was no problem. coming back to Mexico, we were just waved through. I've never been "waved through" a border crossing before. apparently burrito stands for little donkey, because burro is donkey. :P Marichu and i went for tacos at a place, and ironically she's the one with a bad stomach ache now... it's funny because she took so many careful measures to make sure my stomach would be able to deal with the food. lol.
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico jhaddon... a destination at a mid-mountain behind Monterrey. as we were driving Marichu told me about the wildlife in this park as i noticed an eagle soaring above... she also mentioned that there were bears, something she later said she was joking about... but suprisingly enough, we saw a black bear mother and two cubs!! Mexican bears look very similar to Canadian bears I think. I ...
Monterrey, Northern Mexico, Mexico jhaddon... year of high school, so it was good to get back in the pool. I ate lunch at home, which was delicious as always. One of my friends here, Sen, had a birthday dinner at a Japanese restaurant at 7. About 12 of us all met up for the dinner, which was very different and good. It was an interesting atmosphere for me. Out of the 12, I was the only English-speaker. There were 2 French, 5 Japanese, me, and 4 ...
Monterrey, Mexico btb387... Mum - fresh fruit and coffee (instant nescafe - that´s all people seem to have - with sugar and milk - boiled on the stove as no-one seems to have a kettle either). It was actually very pleasant. Then the day unfolded - we tried to get two big old trucks started using new batteries - no good - maybe we should have got something bigger than AA? The to B and E´s for a big breakfast, I saw some videos of the work of AMMAC (the organisation baudelio runs) and pictures of the ...
