Trip to a different world, the difference is Macau

After some issues with the Immigration with regards to my nephew who is traveling with me and my youngest brother to Macau, we were able to glide through the rest of the traveling procedures. Damn, we do not have a DSWD permit sort of, for my 13 y/o nephew. You should see the look in my nephew's face when the immigration officer said to us that he will not be able to fly out without the clearance. My brother is already taking him back to his dad outside the airport to pick him up while I wait...

Another day in Macau

I extended our hotel stay until the 4th of September. Today, we spent the day doing the cultural hike. Temple visits, church visits and we bumped into this library, sir Roberto Ho Tung Library, where internet use is free, AWESOME. My brother can accept text messages but cannot reply nor make phone calls from his cellphone. Roaming is supposed to be active but I guess, it's roaming elsewhere. I am trying to make phone calls to the Bahamas but phone lines are just busy. I wonder how was it ther...

Vegas of the East

Our mission: To spend three days in the Las Vegas of the East and not gamble a single penny. This should be very simple for us. Our initial mission was not to spend any money at a casino period, but then we found out Cirque du Soleil has a show at the Venetian casino, and we have always wanted to see one of their shows. We also had the philosophy all along this trip to splurge a little here. Casino hotels tend to be decently priced especially for what you get and this is no different in Macau...

Macau

So yesturday our visit to Macau was very exciting! Minus the fact that the Hydrofoil made me sea sick. We went to the Venetian cassino! Admitting age is 18 but I snuck in not once but twice! I used a slot machine and lost six hundo! Hong Kong dollars though and thankfully not Canadian dollars. I cried my loss in two beers, in the Blue frog ...

Farewell Package

... be getting thrown away on offering incense to the gods and then having it not reach them. It is a mirror of many other religious institutions, whose rites and rituals and ceremonies have fallen into routine and lost their true spiritual significance. It made me thankful to be separate from it all and have a spirituality without all the baggage and expectations to uphold, from society and god alike. We visited what was left of some ancient significant building, and quite honestly by this ...

Dragons in the Water!

... hopping back on the bus and heading back to Central, while passing Repulse Bay and the public beach that is there, I spied the temperature gauge and it read, "33C" which is roughly 91 degrees, so yes, it was a pretty warm day out here. Add in a layer of humdity of only 65% and it sure makes the indoor A/C feel pretty good. So here you go, some pictures and a couple of movie files from the 40th Annual Stanley Dragon Boat Races.

... a great view of the harbour area, promenade and the food was terrific.I forgot to mention that the promenade offered a place to people watch and their was lots of other entertainment being produced in this particular area.(don't forget your camera) The evening offered us the opportunity to watch the Laser Light show from the promenade. This activity runs year round and starts around 8 PM. Well worth watching ...

... but that's not my name." Her eye twitched a little and I think she was about to sprout horns out of her head, rip my smug face off and eat it. She sort of mumbled something and shuffled away. I just couldn't help myself; I had to get a little something in there to knock her out of the ivory tower a bit. I think getting that in there was worth the stress and berating and four hours of dock time. Maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but, needless to say, I was ...
