Clean and very well presented! Junior suite is huge - enormous bed, huge sofa, humongous bathroom, mini bar (free bottle of cava!), bathrobes and slippers, 2 televisions (1 near the sofa, 1 near the bed!!), free wi-fi - what else could you need!

... and it’s stunning. Hopefully the pictures will give you a flavour. I got as high as 1940m today climbing towards a pass at 2400m.The peak above it, Pic de Peguera, is 2980m high. That’s 9,770 feet. My poor little legs have done some work over the last 2 days and the soles of my feet are rather tender. I haven’t really done much proper Alpine hiking before and I guess I was forced into it by not being able to use the bike but the terrain was too ...

... since the road had been completely washed out. He added, that we should have paid attention to the sign at the bottom of the hill.... We texted everyone else to take the direct route on an un-nice N road, and turned around and started down. At the top, the road was barricaded to cars but we couldn't see the real issue. But we did see a few other cyclists go over the top and not come back, so by one's and two's we all did the same. Eventually we found the reason(s) for the closure: There were three crews on the road. The first ones were repairing ...

... the smart ones. The climb to today's first col afforded some views before veering off into the sun, which by early morning was already so hot that I rode on the left side of the road for a bit so I could stay in whatever shade was available.

The descent was OK - there were a few pebbles in one corner - but ended abruptly as I turned to access the climb to the Col d'Agnes, which ...

... obviously a couple guys there doing support for a group of their customers.

A couple hundred metres up the road was the plaque in the wall where Fabio Casartelli died, followed shortly by the marble monument in his memory.

The lower part of the climb to Col de Portet d'Aspet was, despite being steep, fairly pleasant. There was plenty of tree cover to provide shade on a hot day and the road was lined with stone walls. Then ...
