... having a beer and watching a man try to dig his van out of the snow. To my knowledge his van is to this moment where it was when I left the bar.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to post some pictures of Canillo when it's snowy and the sun comes out. Don't have too many, but figured it was worth a post.

Canillo, Andorra sirsmonkey42... charm, but it's easy to see that lots of it is maintained with the massive amounts of money that come in through rich tourists going to the ski resorts. Walking through the peaceful streets and hearing flowing water everywhere almost makes things seem eerily perfect. Like walking through a fairy tale. After a few rounds of the city, I decided to turn in a bit early as I didn't sleep much on the train over.

Today when I woke up the country had been ...

Tarascon-sur-Ariège, Midi-Pyrénées, France marianmFound out today that the 90 day tourist visa that I thought we were granted for each country is actually for the combined Senchgen countries. Since we'll be at least 60 days in France alone, it means we won't be doing the France, Italy, Greece and then Turkey route we had planned on in the length of time we'd ...
Boussenac, Midi-Pyrénées, France 2totango... the cured leg of pork.

In the barn was a meat bird who was lame and in pain and it was time to put it out of it’s misery (and vary our pork-rich diet). In an effort to understand what it means to eat meat (and perhaps cement her decision to eat vegetarian) she offered to kill the chicken! She managed to get through the killing not too badly, but plucking was a bit too much to bear. And then to eat it…well that’s ...
Boussenac, Midi-Pyrénées, France 2totango... the weekend and they’re ready for pickup and processing. Brian had always been interested in butchering meat, so here was an opportunity to learn a bit.

The drive back from the abattoir was more difficult than I’d expected. Sitting beside 4, ½ pig carcasses was less than comfortable. +6 degree weather outside we still drove with the windows down and the A/C on trying to get the temperature down to 2 or 3 ...
Boussenac, Midi-Pyrénées, France 2totangoTime to attempt something I’ve always been itching to do: rock climbing. And not the kind done on indoor walls with padded flooring. Real out-in-the-open, unforgiving stone ROCK CLIMBING!

Out in the Pyrenees in the Ariege region with it’s beautiful slopes lie a multitude of rock faces covered in climbers pretending to be Spiderman.

Even though it’s something I’ve always wanted to try, there were a few ...
Tarascon-sur-Ariège, Midi-Pyrénées, France 2totango... of smokers. At least we’re definitively out of the Commie-toilet-paper-zone now. I was starting to miss pre-Nafta Mexican recycled newspaper, all cut up into nice little rectangles.

The ride up to Andorra is nice, finally arriving up in a high mountain ****** that somehow managed to remain independent all these years. As I suspected, though, they lean heavily toward Spain, and you hear Castellano frequently, though ...
Andorra la Vella, Andorra tresgateBarcelona is just like Melbourne on a winter´s day - drizzle and a chilly breeze. And less a few more degrees of course. Filled with little information on times and details, I headed to the Barce bus station. I decided last night that I am going to Andorra. Where the hell is Andorra? I am glad you asked... Andorra is a small principality stuck between Spain and France, known for very little apart from Pyranees skiing, discount electrical goods and beautiful scenery ...
