A sleep-in until 8.30 stated the day , with the usual home made jams ,croissants , joghurt ,etc in the lovely walled garden, followed a very pleasant pursuit of the owners black Labrador which escaped just as we were leaving , the ******* . A sense of conscience made us chase the bloody dog , which thoroughly enjoyed the chase over a main road as far as the beach , anyway Ali caught him and the final return was being dragged home by the owner. ... varieties on the tables: raspberry, strawberry, peach and quince, marmalade, rhubarb, yellow plum, pear, and green tomato and candied lemon (the label read "Please Love Me."), among others. I tried a dollop of Please Love Me, and it was't too bad. It was odd at first because all you could taste were tomatoes, but suddenly the lemon kicked in and it was quite nice.

I once again could not get my door open after breakfast. Stan happened to walk by, so ...

... frightened by a flash or something. To make up for the lack of feline companionship, the garden also had a large closed-off area for six donkeys. They were all far more interested in trying to reach acorns that had fallen outside the fence than in having anything to do with humans.

Our Visit to Chinon
After much difficulty in renting a car at the Paris airport we headed to the Loire Valley with the intent of riding bicycles between chateaux. As much by happenstance as anything else, Shar chose Chinon as our location and the Hotel Gargantua as our accommodation. With a name like that how could you go wrong?

Chinon is just southwest of Tours which is 250km south of Paris and it is a medieval town ...
