... We kept looking for a place to buy our fruit tarts but there wasn't anything until we rode down a steep narrow exceptionally busy hill and into Cancale. It's obviously a hugely popular holiday place with lots of shops and restaurants on the beach front. The tide was out there too and boats were lying on their side on the muddy sand. The traffic was bumper to bumper so there was no point trying to ride so we walked our bikes along the street and in ...

... right to the door to the town. There were people around but it was deserted compared with the previous day. We spend a bit of time taking photos and watching the sun trying to rise and then as we turned to go the shuttle buses were letting off waves of people. Apart from not seeing Mont St Michel at night, we felt we had seen and done everything we wanted to do and thought it was amazing. We rode on the bike path again through lanes lined with trees, maize fields and farm ...

Our itinerary says 48 kms today from Fougeres to Pontorson. This morning we were treated to 20 kms of cycle paths through pretty farm land and acres and acres of maize fields. There were a few locals running, biking or walking their dogs but in general really quiet and lovely. It looked like it may have been a rail way track in years gone by and there was the odd tunnel but otherwise no sign of any tracks. Our first stop was at Antrain where we ended up coming into town completely the ...

We planned to get up early and as it happened it wasn't difficult. Although our hotel was lovely and a prime position in the town, our room on the ground floor was pretty much on the footpath. It was also a busy road with cars and people walking so the night was noisy. They did us a favour though as by 7.35 am we were on our bikes and heading out along the cobbled streets. I wore tights to protect my legs from the sun but as we left the town it was so ...

... 1 1/2 miles. The weather was great and the view pretty special, so the walk passed easily. We got there and picked out our restaurant and got our food. Julie ordered salt lamb from the area, oysters and farbreton. I got a weird fluffy omelet thing with half raw egg fluff (it's a specialty of mont saint Michel but I didn't like it very much), a salad, and an egg custard. Cooper got roast chicken, a salad, and ...
