We arrived in St Malo at 8am Sunday morning, and waited in the departure lounge for about 3 hours untill aymericks friend eddy turned up.
Playing out guitars in an empty terminal, hungover, eddy finally arrived and we drove down in his make shift old banger of a mobile home van. Eddys family are beautiful, he has 3 great kids and a beautiful cottqge in awsome village.
... because it has a view of the bay: La Croix Blanche. I sat with Yvonne and Holly next to a window, and the view did seem to go on forever. Dinner was a multi-course affair and also seemed to go on forever. For starters, I had jambon cru de pays, which was several slices of a marvelous prosciutto-ish sort of ham garnished with tomatoes, lettuce, olives and hard-boiled egg slices. Then there was a palate cleanser: apple sorbet in calvados. Oh la la! My main plate was ...
Le Mont-St-Michel, Normandy, France londonpenguinOur last official day of ’work’. Jennie and Kevin have been kind enough to offer to take us to their secret camping spot near le Mont-Saint-Michel . A beautiful vista overlooking the open tide towards this beautiful island while the sun sets behind it. We were almost all alone with only 2 other camper vans at this spot and our tent out on the edge of the ...
Le Mont-Saint-Michel, Basse-Normandie, France 2totango... of absolutely nowhere, surrounded by flat fields it shoots up out of the ground so ominously! The only thing around are hotels for the tourists (thats us) and a long road up to Mont St Michel! The tide was low when we got there so it wasnt an island in any way. There were ppl walking across the sand everywhere! We walked up and around Mont ST mIchel and did a tour of the church and buildings. Its hard to describe in words how Epic this place ...
Granville, Normandy, France ktchris... they had to have so much training and experience to do their jobs. They made pulling into little ports look so easy. I had no idea that they were contending with tides, currents and wind as much as they were, as well as other boats around us.
Mont Saint-Michel
What an incredibly unique place. When I heard we were going to yet another church, I wasn't excited in the least. But while we were driving up to it and saw it ahead of use, I ...
St Malo
I did something very out of character in St Malo. I went to a music festival. Now lets state some facts. My favourite radio station is Bob Rogers, Easy 1170 (AM) and I like the Beach Boys and Creedence Clear Water Revival. I was not looking forward to going to this French Rock festival....
However, I went with an open mind and a positive attitude... Yes I didn't know the bands, but I had a good time mixing with French people. I had to work ...
Mount-St-Michel is a giant abbey on an island in the middle of the sea. When it was low tide people could walk or drive to the church but it would then become completely surrounded by water by the time the tide rolled in again. The church itself is pretty amazing and it must have been even more so when it was harder to access. It makes a great photograph and is very spiritual but ...
Le Mont-Saint-Michel, Basse-Normandie, France moore_mattj... of time.
The whole town is dedicated to Australia. Each street name, sign and restaurant had something to do with down under. Driving down Melbourne Street, seeing the memorial and seeing the Victoria School, where, marked in large writing is 'n'oublions jamais l'australie' (best translated by: let us never forget Australia) are vivid memories I won't forget, and I have my host family to thank for that.
The drive home was seemingly long but very worthwhile.
... one of the crepe restaurants because I was kinda hungry. Well, don't eat a crepe if you are hungry! It won't do a thing! We got ripped of a bit and the service was awful but I was really asking for it eating on this little island. That was our first and last crepe of the trip. We headed back to the parking lot which was not covered by the sea at that point. While we were leaving I noticed again how beautiful it was and I decided that this place is way ...
