... travelled. "Same", says I. Shook our hands when we left and wished us happy travels.
And for once we were home before 5pm. And it's taken me all the time since to write this. Jonathan has poured the red and shortly we'll spruce up and ascend to the town in search of dinner. Along the port here are predominantly Italian or oysters and mussels, and we'd like something else - not sure what. Seafood seems to be prime, being Brittany and summer.
... we've had in Brittany and then proceeded to walk to the old town. The guide books had led us to believe that there were very few half timbered houses left following the major fire of 1720 but were we very pleasantly surprised at what we saw whilst wandering around.
This town is just something.
... and crooked little houses deep in the narrow valley below the walled city, and the rain has returned. We find our green front door and debate whether to enter early. But the rain eases so we leave the car and decide to walk around the block to see what's here. We cross a tiny one lane bridge over the river Rance, and opposite is a cobbled lane rising between ancient houses, leaning down the hill and in toward each other. It pulls me in. Where does it go?
... for the down stream part.
JUst have to mention all the eclusiers (lock keepers to you and I) especially Guy and Karen who were helpful beyond the call of duty.
