    There is not getting around it - it is impossible to come to France and not try the wares!
    Once, twice, thrice...
    Let's just accept the fact that after visiting, Lille, Amiens and now 4 days in Lyon, there have been a few visits to the local boulangeries.
    in fact it was not always our fault - some of them literally would not let us pass by their windows.

    Such a lovely morning that we delay setting off and have a potter around Besancon. It is a really charming town and we will definitely come back again.     ... and pecan - I had forgotten just how amazing pecan can taste. Following various (successful!) errands I find myself in front of a huge Cathedral and head in. It's beautiful, and the light must be hitting the stained glass windows just right because the colours are gorgeous. It's also got surreally detailed sculptures (like the sarcophagus in Rome but more so) that go from floor to ceiling in three of the alcoves (maybe 3 m high or more?). I walk back to ...

    On our walk we also found the 2nd cafe in the world established in 1745 (before Australia was even colonised) the first was in Paris somewhere. We also saw another cafe called the XIII Cafe and I couldn't resist asking if it was because the thirteenth cafe but it wasn't.
