We are staying here for another day. We aren't sure yet where we will go after this. But there are several places that we are considering, including Orleans, Blois and Chinon. It was a watery sun this morning. Lunch with Sue and Tony in Les Rairies. It is so good to catch up with someone who has been a friend for over 40 years. The rain started after lunch and we quickly did the shopping we needed before heading back to Monty. We found when we were at a previous aire, ...

... the village of Les Rairies. Sue and Tony have a lovely longhouse with a huge garden and two enormous dogs. Sadly for family reasons, they are planning to move to a house in Somerset. But we enjoyed catching up and tasting one of the local wines over our dinner. And we arrived back at the campsite to find another Brit motorhome parked ...

Loire Valley Our trip up north from Carcassonne to Tours in the Loire Valley went well. It took us nearly the whole day - three trains but we made it! Tours is an old town and the main entrance town to the Loire Valley. We had dinner in the old city area with some cool looking buildings. We stayed in a small hotel over night (the first of our trip). It was two adjoining rooms and two bathrooms and very basic. We were all happy that we had been staying ...

We had been told about this Aire when we were in Forges Les Eaux and it is truly lovely. It was only 56 miles away but we just had to see this. As we were staying off the Peages, we had looked at the roads we wanted to travel on. For once, this did not work out quite right when we got to La Fleche as we could not find our road out the other side of the town! Nothing daunted, I headed into a Tabac with map ...

Went for a drive to explore some more castles today. Went to Blois and Chambord. While Chenonceau is rated as the nicest castle to visit in the Loire, I think the honors should really go to Chateau Chambord. It is the epitome of what a castle is. It is quite magnificent, and so is the French countryside.

After a morning of castle touring we drove back to Paris (Scott's favourite thing to do!). He paid for a full tank of gas from ...
