... We had to go around it, but it looks like a very flourishing town, with lots of lovely buildings - like La Bourboule should look
We carried on up to the foot of the Telepherique which would take us up to 1780m.
The last bit to the peak of Sancy is a climb up 860 wooden steps!! ...

... with rain and with thick cloud, meaning we haven't even caught sight of the Puys. In a fit of optimism we thought we would give the Auvergne one more chance.

We travelled on good roads via Figeac and Aurillac, aiming for the Monts du Cantal, where there are several puys ...

... toilet block was ancient. The showers had pull chains to get the water to flow. As I was tucking myself in for the night, John came back from the loo very excited, clutching a grass stalk with a glow worm attached. We turned the lights off to admire its glow – how lovely!!

They live in a beautiful big house with lots of design furniture, right up my street of course ! Eames chairs, Corbusier chair etc. We got spoiled with cakes, drinks and a nice dinner in their beautiful big garden. Not so nice was that we received news from Daan our neighbor that our terrace furniture was destroyed by hail last night. Anyway, we had a lovely evening and went to bed in the visitors room made up for us. Mylene is really sweet! She is making exquisite things ...

... and the saucisse are great as well. 4 sausages for 10€...the flavours and the smells...so yummy :) Taking advantage of the morning sunshine we went bush for a while, walking a trail to Chiloza Cascades. This was a walk through the bush to the river that cascaded over rocks in a myriad of mini waterfalls. So very peaceful and not another soul in sight, except for snails...are these the escargot we eat in the restaurants? They are certainly big enough! After finally finding ...
