    Geez it's a long way to Paris from Darlinghurst - about 25 hours door to door.
    QF leg was very ordinary - Emirates leg from Dubai was much much better.

    For our second full day in Paris we decided to go all out. We caught the tour bus to the Louvre from there we walked along the length of the Champs Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe, along the way we collected a bottle of french champaign, a baguette, salami plus we had some of our Dutch cheese left.     ... cello on the train itself. There seems to be random instruments like that in quite a few places; in the train station I arrived at to come into paris, there was a piano in one of the concourses, sitting there, waiting for anyone to come up and play it.

    Came back to hostel, did laundry. Took train late at night to La Defense, saw grand arch, skyscrapers to get my modern fix.

    ... gravy, it was served with a nice dollop of mashed potatoes and a few slices of chewy French baguette. Karen tried a Guinness red, which had a creamy and very persistent foamy head--it was good.     ... vibe over there, more of a Double Bay feel to it, great shops and eateries. Walked through the Luxembourg Gardens where hundreds were relaxing, talking, drawing etc in the sunshine. Lovely place and a nice day out, did have the clip board girls and an older fellow pretend he found a gold ring on the footpath but they all got short shift from us.
