Traveling from Chamonix to Lake Annecy we went through some breathtaking views through the Alps. The city is quite gorgeous, a favorite Lakeside destination for French families in summer. After a walk through 'Little Venice' taking the sights of a town voted the most beautiful in France, i had a lovely lunch of the local (from Nice) Niçoise salad in a central location before taking the one hour boat trip on the lake. ... Lake which was great fun, and the kids took turns steering, so we went around in circles a bit! Excellent weather while here. One night of rain but sunny and warm during the day. Our campsite had an aqua park for the kids, with jacuzzi for the adults. Shame the water was still a bit cold, as the nights do get quite cold still. All had a great time though. Loads of parasailing to be seen off the mountains. Must have been an amazing experience.

Flying ever north since it wouldn't stop raining in the mountains and the cloud base was so low we couldn't see the ...

... 8221; Italians do the “double hug”, but the French actually give a real kiss! We used the public toilets which were quite the experience. They were simply a hole in the floor! On our way further north we passed by lavender fields, which were not in blossom yet. These fields produce honey. The rest of the trip over the mountain was almost scary looking down the sheer cliffs! We had one last stop at a town called ...

... find a hotel, she sent us to the Art hotel near the station, turned out not to be good but as it was getting late it would have to do. The nice receptionist said her favourite Chinese restaurant was opposite but we decided to go into town, such a lovely place with lots of interesting alleys to explore. Found another Chinese restaurant which was Ok but actually not as it had me up all night! hopefully better ...
