    ... colours of the trees and the brilliant green of the grass was amazing.

    E failed to get any lunch as we discovered that 11:11 is a bank holiday in France and everywhere was closed! So we arrived at the hotel at 5:00 pm and were starving! We checked in and the owner kindly provided us with pate and bread and a glass of red....perfect!

    But it’s all an experience, doing car repairs en français. I’m amazed really, that at half past four on a Friday afternoon a) anyone is up for doing any work, and b) they can whip the wheel off, and the tyre, and fix a puncture, all within about 15 minutes.

    ... was, so we had a gentle sail to St Denis on Ile d'Oleron and arrived mid afternoon. We got the famous Sweber out and David dived under to look at the prop, it was caked in barnacles and calcification. So after 20 plus minutes of David scraping and wire brushing and me pumping air into him through the sweber he surfaced with cuts to hands and arms but a clean prop.     ... 8221; Italians do the “double hug”, but the French actually give a real kiss! We used the public toilets which were quite the experience. They were simply a hole in the floor!     ... find a hotel, she sent us to the Art hotel near the station, turned out not to be good but as it was getting late it would have to do. The nice receptionist said her favourite Chinese restaurant was opposite but we decided to go into town, such a lovely place with lots of interesting alleys to explore. Found another Chinese restaurant which was Ok but actually not as it had me up all night! hopefully better ...
