      We had a late breakfast to let the kids have a bit of a sleep-in the lovely rooms. The main event at breakfast was Jessamy managing to break a glass with a dropped knife almost perfectly two inches off the top. Tristan had to get some more baked beans in case there was glass slivers. Dad enjoyed the black pudding. Almost everyone was 'beaten' by this breakfast.

      The day started very
      early with the long and dull ride to Folkstone to join the Chunnel
      train to Calais. Two hours or so later, we arrived at the 'port' and
      got caught in our first downpour of the holiday while we sat queuing
