From York, we took a Cook's tour (James Cook lived in Whitby and served his apprenticeship in Whitby) to Whitby. We loved Whitby so we parked the car for the day and walked to the Abbey, along the river, to the fish and chip shop (Bradley's - almost as good as Barts)and to the beach. After this we headed west and North to Newcastle. We are actually 10 ml west of Newcastle.
Our accommodation is a refurb of an 1878 built stables for a local doctor's house. Very roomy.

We make our way north and end up in Sunderland for the night which is on the coast. It raining and almost blizzard conditions when we arrive and very difficult to find accommodation, Eventually we get some and then rooms had to change because wifi wouldn't work, Enjoyed some nice fish and chips int he new ...

Once recovered from the flight and after staying with Gilli for a few nights we moved to Rochford in Essex to stay with Pauline and Colin and prepare ourselves for Pauline's 60th party. It was a really lovely afternoon and I ...

Thursday was a day of travelling. Our flight from Dublin back to Birmingham was about an hour late so we did not arrive back to England until 1.30pm and by the time we picked up the car from the airport carpark we did not hit the road to our next destination until well after 2.30pm. Immigration and customs was pretty much non existent both leaving and returning to Birmingham. We did not get our passport checked or stamped when ...
