    The bathhouse had both indoor and outdoor sections, with the outdoor baths surrounded by bamboo that swayed in the cool evening breeze, and a sauna with a cold plunge pool.

    As Fumito had been on call the night before, he didn't actually join us in the baths but left us there and we were picked up by Tsuneto an hour later – a little like being dropped off at the shops by your Dad and being told to wait for your Grandad to pick you up!

    ... I got some inspiration from a blog though where two girls got bikes with child seats on and put their bags in the seats. What a clever idea and one that would save a lot of money. We got to the bike hire centre at around 7am and found ourselves two bikes with child seats. The bags fitted perfectly so we were ready to go.     ... yourself clean, you can then enter the water. It was wonderful. hotter than the Onsen I went to at Beppu. Also there were about 20 women using it, where there were only 3 others at Beppu.

    WE DID: - visited Matsuyama-jo (castle), using the chairlift (no safety bar!) to get up and down the hill. - took the tram to Dogo Onsen where we booked in to Dogo Onsen Honkan baths with a private lounging room, yukata hire and imperial bath etc - walked through Dogo-koen (park). - walked to and around Ishite-ji (temple) - played in the arcade in Okaido. - went for a drink in bar Grace ...
