Great staff, hotel and food. Service was great and it was clean with really helpful staff. 13km out of city but free shuttle bus to beaches and malls and taxis cheap.

Not close to anything, so plan to spend money on a taxi to get here if you land at night-- almost 48 km from the airport at night
There is a metro during the day that takes you all over, and then a public bus that drops off/picks up right outside the hotel, so a really good place if you're willing to do public transit
Free shuttle to a few shopping areas and beach
LOVELY staff- very friendly and beautiful English
      Beautiful rooms, rooftop pool
Has a restaurant , cafe, room service-- not that expensive, and food right in the hotel
There is a ex-pats "colony" just about 1 mile away with a FULLY STOCKED grocery store. I am a vegetarian and lactose-intolerant--- they had soy yogurt, soy milk, etc, and I was thrilled! Also, a great Thai restaurant with tofu in the same shopping plaza.

Today has been long after arriving at the hotel at 8am. We managed to get our room early and get some sleep before exploring this awesome city. I wasn't overly bothered about coming here but we love it. Its really clean and holds a lot of world records for basically having the biggest of everything. We did loads of walking around today which was …

... at 0035 Friday 29 Aug, it was 31 degrees. No immigration entry cards required and visas given upon arrival, just get off the plane, get a cab and make our way to the hotel to sleep. No luggage to collect because the QANTAS check in lady had checked our luggage through to Athens, we just had our on board bags with a change of clothes etc so a quick exit. Jus excelled himself this trip with our first hotel in Dubai. No padded walls or lifts ...

... of UAE. The souks were just around the corner - highly recommended by the way. We walked to the first street here and were instantly bombarded with customer service....TO THE MAX. "My friend come here, 100% quality, genuine copy Prada bags, Pashmina Pashmina, you try you try, you feel you feel, habibi" were the cries of shop owners as you walked past. In the first shop we got a t-shirt that changes colour in the sun for Ruby, a mermaid in the sea and very ...

Went up the Burj Khalifa this morning. You can actually only get about halfway to the top and of course with all the dust in the air you get a rather shrouded view of the city. It was still quite impressive though and obviously a major feat in engineering. We spent a little more time looking around the mall, the jewellery stores are very impressive with diamond rings like what you would see on episodes of the Bold and ...

... to feel tired so we got off at the last stop - WAFI, as we could see this tomorrow on the Red Route. The taxi back to the hotel (quite a long way) only cost 30 dirhams ($10) and we went straight upstairs where Edie collapsed into bed and took some tablets. I ordered a Movenpick Deluxe Burger with chips and onion rings which we shared.($22) and some mango Movenpick ice cream for Edie which was not creamy but rather like gelato ($15). By 8.30 we were both ...
