I know it is amazing... like how did they erect these things 3000 years ago?
I can't tell you anything you already didn't know about this place I'm afraid, except that you get just as close from outside the perimeter fence as you do if you pay the entry fee so why pay?
But it also has a big Cathederal, and this one houses one of 3 copies of the Magna Carta.
I noticed that 2 of the little praying areas (I'm not a church goer so I don't know what those gated off areas are) still had their original painting on ceiling. I can't understand why (during the reformation I think) they got rid of the beautiful colourfully painted ceilings - whitewash is soo soulless ironic really. Now there are only a few churchs in the country you can see them in ...
... streets away from the centre of town. We parked out the front of an old peoples home and the old woman in the nearest room to our van was none too happy with our presence...pacing up and down by her window for over an hour on the phone whinging to god knows who... but hey what could she do it was sunday night!! We sat there drinking wine waving to her. She was not impressed and eventually closed her curtains and left us in peace.

Jo, Simon and Matt, friends from my Kumuka tour, who were currently staying over in London came out to see Stonehenge, so I jumped on a train to Salisbury and then a tour bus to met them... I have been to Stonehenge before but its always fascinating to go and look at them. The locals call them just a pile of rocks ...
Salisbury, England, United Kingdom sares12... alley near the Bridge of Sighs. We would never have found the place had Dave not asked a local student for a pub recommendation. Lunch consisted of bangers and mash and chicken pie, and of course a good bitters. Mom was a blast at the pub and walking around after, probably due in large part to the pint of Brains Bitter that she had with her meal. In summary, it was a pleasant visit although it would have been much better had it not been so cold.
Oxford, United Kingdom jacque_sttrap... I shouldn't take it personally. Whatever. All I know is that this is one more reason I am happy to be a cat person. They are much less likely to subject perfect strangers to random attacks. We said good bye to Andy who was driving the three hours back to his work for the week. Then Sonya and I called it an early night as we both have lots of work to do tomorrow. If I am even able to type with my injury...sniff sniff.
Andover, United Kingdom whereshegoes... as usual, Sonya (who was a princess to her prince charming...ofcourse) had provided me with all things sparkly and it was like a fairy dust blizzard by the time I was done. Ofcourse, the costume wasn't complete without a maple leaf wand with which I could deem them all worthy. Sonya questioned me about the touque I was carrying around and I assured her it was only a carrying case for my camera. We ended up stuffing ourselves silly with every kind of ...
