      Off to Manchester after supper to be next to the airport for the early morning flight! Need to check in at 6.40 am (sigh)... But very excited to get on the way! Hoping for an upgrade due to it being my birthday (10th feb), however, will be very surprised if i get one! Fingers crossed. Etihad flight to Bangkok via Abu Dhabi ...

      Today sees us leaving Witton Gilbert with Passports! Vicky took us to Durham Station and then we caught the train and bus to Manchester Airport! The whole journey went very smoothly, with the exception of lugging large cases up and down stairs at York but hey ho! Very early in Airport - 1hr before gate opened. Looking forward to being frisked by Si but he's in Teneriffe! Both well and now waiting for Gate to open and signing off for next ...

      I'm going to miss weekends in the City.

      Having said that I found that the Cathedral felt very cosy, warm and welcoming compared to some of the others that I have visited. As I walked through the entrance the organist was playing some amazing music, and continued to play for the half hour I was there. I don't know how but the music was so loud, and deep and powerfully visceral that I could feel it pass straight through me without it being painful as I walked around looking at ...

      About three hours after I dozed off, I woke up and could not get to sleep.

      Not good.

      There was nothing I could do to get myself checked back out. After sitting with my eyes closed for about 30 minutes, I gave up and started thinking about the day. It was getting really exciting.

      The line in customs wasn't very long, but the number of questions was surprising. Every other time I came to the UK, there were a couple of questions ...
