Back to the point, I love travelling. Relatively speaking I have done a lot of it too. I live near an airport, I can leave work an hour early on a Tuesday, enjoy a few beers with chums in Dublin, and get back to work an hour late on Wednesday. But I've never backpacked; I've never had a holiday far in excess of two weeks.

... decide to grab a few drinks from Tesco, and order in a delivery from the highly recommended Chinee Takeaway - big mistake... Monday July 15. Quick drive through Bath to see the Circus, on to the magnificent Royal Crescent, then off on the road to Lynton, with a scenic detour through the Cheddar Gorge, and a brief stop at Cheddar for a taste of some real cheddar, bought a piece of vintage and a mouse knife, followed by a sip of "leg bender" cider - phew! Back on the road, detour ...
... at 9:30 and met a very cheery Steve Prior who picked us up and took us to the classroom! It was a very relaxed atmosphere from the start, Claire and Sam are joining us on the IDC and Sams partner Jim participated in the course but can't attend the IDC. After some introductions and refreshments it was time for a break!

... expecting to go over the top. Fortunately i am not expecting to be going into anywhere near the kind of danger that he was exposed to, and any kind of anxiety i do get shouldn't be so easily exposed in my handwriting. In this Travelblog i am hoping to capture and share at least some of what i experience whilst away, keep a few minds rested that i am safe and well (not looking anywhere in particular) and with any luck impart a bit of wisdom gleaned on my travels.

Before I go I still have to pack and carry out other numerous tasks that will no doubt be important to me. Perhaps I should create a to do list?
