    ... Perhaps it is because I seem to hang out with a lot of English senior citizens. For break, Paul got something called "dome coffee cake" and it turned out to be like a big Mallomar. Definitely not a salad.

    Jill and Gary came over to say their goodbyes before returning to Jersey tomorrow,. We continue to try to convince them to come visit us in Washington, Gary has been sick with some kind of flu/bug for 3 days, ...

    ... maker was born here in 1718, and there is a statue honoring him near Manor Sq. I walked over to get a photo and noticed that someone has knitted him a yellow hat. probably for the Tour de France.

    ... how/when it was built. Joe and I even climbed all the twisty steps to the dome for a bird's eye view of the city. We've thus far been blessed with excellent weather - blue skies, sunny - some clouds and warm. After visiting St. Paul's and even staying for Evensong, we headed across the Millennium Bridge and walked the South Bank to the London Eye... Which only the guys were brave enough to ...

    ... but with hand-carved roasts and traditional British "Sunday dinner" dishes. They had roast turkey, ham, roast beef, steak and mushroom pie, Yorkshire puddings and gravy, roasted potatoes, mashed potatoes, peas (of course) carrots and cauliflower and the tiniest salad bar I have ever seen. It was pretty good stuff.

    Today we walked past the Otley Secondary Modern School. Not too sure ...

    We are on the way again after a week at home. John and Vanessa join us at Lemonroyd Lock by the Marina and we head off on the second stage of our summer trip. First stop is Castleford to fill up with diesel, a simple process you might think, just like filling the car!!
