      HADRIAN'S WALL

Driving to York today with Ruth and Charlie we stopped to view Hadrian's Wall at two locations. Maps 1-2. An 83 year old woman riding nearby said that on a clear day you can see it to the horizon. Running virtually from coast to coast we realise the Romans were making a serious effort to keep the Scots out of their domain. Not a lot has changed in 2000 years has it. We are still building walls either virtually or in other ways to keep others out. Thanks to Charlie for the long ...

We then went for a walk around the streets ...

Our unscheduled holiday to the other side of the world comes about not because Oz is on our bucket list of priority destinations (certainly not mine) but simply because of Alice. Who's Alice? This is our lovely daughter who decided to to take leave of her job in paediatric nursing in Neonatal Intensive Care to ...

We are on the way again after a week at home. John and Vanessa join us at Lemonroyd Lock by the Marina and we head off on the second stage of our summer trip. First stop is Castleford to fill up with diesel, a simple process you might think, just like filling the car!!

Not quite so easy on the boat.

Two hours later after the chap at the Marina who was ...
