Bed was not the best, couldn't fault the staff, pleasant and helpful. Meals were great also.

Was a busy day, after a good nights sleep. Enjoyed the hotel, amazing history but still very comfortable surroundings. Everything you need. Well for the most part of today the GPS played fair, but just occasionally she was leading us on roads that apparently didn't exist! This proved interesting when we went down a couple of small goat tracks with …

... living dead (plus a few drunk Scousers). The people of Liverpool really had gone to town on dressing up for Halloween - more so than any other place/year that I can remember.

Sunday morning started with a full English breakfast, which set us up nicely for the day ahead in the fog that had engulfed Liverpool. The waterfront area was most pleasant - and would have been nicer if the sun was out - so as well as visiting the Albert Dock we had ...

One floor of the Maritime Museum is devoted to the subject of International Slavery and covers the period from the 1600s to today and the different types of slavery during that time.

Tomorrow we have another three museums to visit. We arrived in Liverpool with the aim to visit The Beatles museum ...

Sunday means game day! I packed a small day pack and headed to the train station to make my way up to Liverpool for the Liverpool vs Southampton game at the one and only Anfield. The 3hr train trip through the countryside was enjoyable and flew by. I arrived in Liverpool just after 2pm, checked into my hostel and made my way to Anfield just after 3pm. A couple of pregame beers, a new scarf and a ...

Earlier start this morning so we could get into Chester and walk the walls before taking a guided tour of the city. The walls date back to Roman times but as with everything here they have been modified throughout the ages. We got half way round the city before we had to make for the Town Hall and join our tour. Our guide Jan had a passion for the Civil war but was very knowledgeable on all aspects of Chester history. From the Romans and their roads that meet in ...
