... hours. We arrived in Dubai in the middle of the night a bit disoriented before taking a 12 hour flight back to Adelaide. Having gone to the UK via Singapore on business previously I did not find this flight too bad, it is direct to Adelaide where it took me about a week to recover from jet lag whereas going to Rome, I felt no jet lag. Perhaps it is the excitement of visiting a new place and walking in the sunshine that made it easier to ...

We enjoyed lunch at one of the local restaurants overlooking the bay and spent a good couple of hours just relaxing enjoying good fine, wine and of course magnificent views.
As we headed back to the cable car it started to rain a little ...

... sand, and the rock, and how this is all very old volcanic ash (he really is suited as a "dirt guy" for his job!), what I will say is I really wanted to see this black sand, so I tore off my sandals and ran into the beach, the BLACK SAND beach in +30C weather....yeah you get the picture. And as I hopped off that beach as fast as I could, I watched all the other tourists do the exact same thing. And let me tell you it was funny to watch, just not funny to actually experience ...
