Great view but precautionary safety not thought through at all.

Hard to find as it sits right on the edge - one has to park above (that's okay) but the entrances to the shared walkway, from either direction, are not signposted. They tried to overcome this with a Google Earth photo in the confirmation email, but it was not that helpful - especially as the walkway is cobbled with very uneven stones - not great for rolling suitcases. Great view, can't be denied and a fantastic private swimming pool for guests. Noted is the shared unconcern for the painted concrete surfaces which are extremely slippery especially when wet - they look great but gravity sucks. Handrails would be useful as the apartments/hotels along the edge are all on a very steep slope. Some broken tiles going into the bathroom could also cut feet... time to do some basic maintenance. Staff lovely. Santorini is not a cheap place for anything and accommodation is expensive esp in high season - Prkas is no exception.

This blog takes in the two days so far on Santorini.

You have to be impressed when arriving via sea. The climb up the crater via the mountain road is breathtaking as are the vivid colours, deep blues, white buildings and brown landscape.

The tourist images are true but like most, a wider angle shows this place has some issues to …

... and pretty much all Aussie. And they keep chanting Aussie Aussie Aussie oi oi oi. Most annoying thing is the people starting the chants are the 2 english boys. The both look 16. So annoying! It is doing my head in a bit. Hopefully they know how to party and aren't as annoying in Ios. But this is what I love about busabout. Unlike contiki you aren't stuck with them. We will join them tomorrow night for all you can eat pizza and drinks but that will be ...

... Ours, the Celebrity Reflection, was the biggest of them all and we were suitably impressed! We have only ever been on one other cruise, the Pacific Jewel, so we were keen to see how they compared. Check-in was a breeze and we boarded the ship in a matter of minutes.

Our room was fabulous - big and spacious, with a balcony, although there is a life raft right outside our room that blocks some of the view. ...

Today we'd booked a private tour but the company cancelled it as there wasn't enough people to run the tour. Not happy Jane!!, as they never told me there was a minimum number required. In true Aussie spirit we decided to go it alone. As it was a tender port we had to get the tender from our ship to the shore, then a steep cable car up to Fira. The other option was by donkey :( that was never going to happen!! We walked around the streets of Fira and ...

          ... we turned in early.

Ryan and Kristy are highly athletic people. Sam and I are always trying to keep up when we are with them (and fail miserably), but the next morning, we went ashore for a run. As we were marveling at the better and better views attained by climbing the hills from sea level, we saw a dog get hit by a car and a few minutes later saw hunters aiming their rifles across a field with hunting dogs. We realized the dog ...
