    After dinner last night we went to our quieter lounge for a night cap. We had arranged with a couple of Kiwis that we might meet here. We worked out that the Kiwis were not coming and offered one of the seats to a woman who said merci. I shall call her Madame Ravel. We all got drinks and started talking about what we had in common.     ... sand, and the rock, and how this is all very old volcanic ash (he really is suited as a "dirt guy" for his job!), what I will say is I really wanted to see this black sand, so I tore off my sandals and ran into the beach, the BLACK SAND beach in +30C weather....yeah you get the picture.
