Beautiful pools, restaurants and beach. Direct access to the boardwalk. Great breakfast. Rooms leave a little to be desired, but the excellence of the rest of the hotel easily makes up for that.

A distant but smooth boat ride left us back on the docks of Labuan Baju. Yet there were still some debts to settle before our departure. Due to our previous unfortunate encounters with ATMs, or lack there of, we set out to right this wrong only to be faced with the same outcome, not working. Four different ATMs later we finally found someone …

... times like this that we wished for good old Rick Steves! We gave up and drove to nearby Tirta Gangga, a water palace, which was our intended sight for the day. We had lunch first and waited forever for it to be brought out. In fact, some of our orders arrived a good 15 minutes before the others! There is no waiting until everyone has their order here – you just eat when it arrives! I had lumpia which are like spring rolls and Anoop had ...

When we reflect back on the range of multicultural experiences we have had on this adventure, we can see that some have required us to move outside of our comfort zones - like relearning how to ride a motorbike and then throwing ourselves into Asian traffic insanity. Others - like taking on a new language or pushing our physical limits practicing intense yoga routines - have required significant commitment. We have continued to find what we ...

... part all the Tripadvisor reviews had warned me about... it was not only steep but there were loose volcanic rocks along the way which made every step slippery and treacherous. I was slipping and sliding all over the place; falling hard twice. Our guide was so great in helping both of us to navigate our way down and I spent a good chunk of time holding his hand so I wouldn't slide off the mountain. Along the way ...

... have you believe, it is NOT in the South Pacific, but in the Indian Ocean, directly north of Australia. Go figure).

Yesterday we visited a most mystic and spooky place, the monuments of Gunung Kawi. I tried to find a good picture, but nothing does this place justice. Nestled 300 VERY LONG AND STEEP steps down the green rice terraces in a valley, these are enormous stone monuments cut into the rocks. No one knows ...
