Beautiful pools, restaurants and beach. Direct access to the boardwalk. Great breakfast. Rooms leave a little to be desired, but the excellence of the rest of the hotel easily makes up for that.

A distant but smooth boat ride left us back on the docks of Labuan Baju. Yet there were still some debts to settle before our departure. Due to our previous unfortunate encounters with ATMs, or lack there of, we set out to right this wrong only to be faced with the same outcome, not working. Four different ATMs later we finally found someone …

... we still had a 5 hour flight ahead of us (Hong Kong to Bali). We powered through the flight and arrived in Hong Kong. We had about 45 minutes to figure out how to make the next flight. This quick connection was made complicated by a language barrier (we quickly realized that Chinese has absolutely NO resemblance to French OR English! Haha). The whole thing was a blur... Between an underground subway (yes.. ...

... Nat was weary at first but soon got the hang of it and absolutely loved it. Was a great experience! We stopped off at Gili Air for lunch, and then headed back. On the last stop, we drifted slightly down-current of the boat, so it was a tough swim back. Nat had a panic attack thinking she wasnt going to make it back, but lifeguard Kieran saved the day! Leanne & Emile had recommended sunset beach bar, so we headed there after snorkelling and were not dissappointed. Had ...

... LOWS * Scams. I know everyone raves over the friendliness of the Balinese, and we encountered some absolutely amazingly kind and generous people. But it's also where the ripping you off becomes so blatant and they don't even care! Firstly the airport charged an absolute fortune for a taxi (don't get me started on the airport- no baggage reclaim numbers?!). Then, Spen didn't know I wanted to insist on taxi drivers using a meter, so agreed a price of 76,000 IDR for a ...

... go from Ubud to Danua Batur (mountain lake), down to the village of Trunyan (on the banks of the lake), up to KIntamani, down to Bondalem and then all the way along the coast to Lovina to visit the hot springs (5000), before doubling back on myself and heading east along the coast before turning up into the mountain road at Culik that leads down to Amlapura. This part of the journey is particularly epic. From here I then headed down passed Pandang Bai and Candi Dasa and ...
