... were now standing before us, at a bus stop down a random back street in Portugal. What a small world we live in!

The walking tour was good, guided by an enthusiastic young Portuguese man named, Luiz. He was also hosting a 2nd tour for the day, that afternoon around Belem, the suburb that we were staying in. I know navigating Lisbon isn't a big deal, but I still felt a sense of accomplishment as I read the map correctly and made it to all my destinations on time. It's a confidence booster knowing I can take care of myself. (Although let's be honest-- the biggest challenge was navigating ...

I started my day with a run along the river :)

After breakfast Carmen and her friend Em, another Aussie, joined us to visit the area of Belem. A cool waterfront area known for its Portuguese tarts!!

On our way to visit the main monuments we stopped to ask a policeman for directions and an explanation to the mornings activities; the street was blocked and people were converging on one side of the street. It turns out Lisbon ...
