    First on this trip, Angie and I had a few days to recover ( and defrost from the Canberra/Melbourne winter) in Paris with Kate. Alan still toughing it out at home for a couple of weeks as he has a concert to play. Flew to Lisbon for a great week there. What a fabulous city! So relaxed and laid back.....but I feel sorry for the older residents.....how on earth do they negotiate the hills in the centre of town. ...

    We woke up this morning at the hotel at faro airport to be greeted by breakfast Portuguese style - including tarts. We travelled into the forum algarve, aocal shopping g centre so that we could get beach towels for our week here. We enjoyed looking around this lovely centre which was mainly open air/outdoor.     ... fishing village. The market we visited this morning had a huge variety of fish and tonnes of it! The vegies and fruit part both inside and outside the market building was pretty amazing as well. That is where we bought tomatoes, cheese and bread for our lunch on the beach.

    Good start to the day and set our course for Portugal stopping off for a lunch stop at Isla Cristina, which is a bustling fishing port and town. They have good facilities for the fleet; plenty space. They must have some sort of nautical college here as well because the free fall lifeboat training rig was on the quayside.     Arrive Gatwick at 14.50 twenty minutes before Mo. Plane takes off on time at 17.10 arrive Faro 19.45 bus into town at 20.35. Hotel Sol Algarve good with lovely courtyard for breakfast, neighbourhood a bit run down though.
