      ... one about a mile long, and to the visitor centre where we quickly realised that today being a school holiday there were crowds visiting the park. It took a while to find park in the huge car park and after eating our picnic we set off to ride the shuttles which are provided free to journey through the park.       ... for the Grand Canyon and our trip up the coast.

      Our drive was uneventful, except for some traffic jam-ups near Boise. The scenery is very dry, brown scrub and low mountains. Very different from western Washington and a lot like California.
