This motel is set on Mirror Lake, a smaller but just as beautiful and much quieter lake. You have a lovely view of the lake from your motel/cottage, and the rooms are clean, comfortable, nicely remodeled, and spacious. I would highly recommend this to anyone!

... his early 50s. He was in the area for its well-known hiking trails. As we'd been very proud of our efforts, we shared the fact we'd just been to the falls and back. His reply was, “but are you doing any hiking”? Suitably deflated, we asked what his definition of a hike was. All we got out of him was a minimum distance of 3 miles, which seemed a little arbitrary… then a couple of Canadian girls agreed that our trip could be called a hike; “what ...

... hotel desk person suggested Salty Seadog Brewing Co. It's obviously a local haunt and when we walked in everyone sitting at the bar stopped talking and looked at us. I couldn't hear Deliverance playing so I thought we were safe. After a 5 minute wait for our table our waiter blew us away with his service and attention. I had a Sea Dog beer and Sue had a cocktail called Ruby Red. It took me back to the 1950's when The Kingston Trio had a song called Ruby Red. I tried to ...

Maura and I were happy to be cruising along in the CRV this morning as we drove back to the White Mountain's Visitor Center in Lincoln to resume the bike trip. Yesterday, after picking up the CRV from Mike's, we stopped at the bike shop to have Surly's gearing problem fixed.

I was excited to tackle the Kancamagus Highway, my ...

I left the Piermont Inn under cloudy skies, layered with long bands of white fog. After a short ride to Haverhill the bike map led me to the Western entrance of the White Mountain National Forest. The rolling terrain was sprinkled with subdued shades of red, yellow ...

... in the parking lot I made a beeline back to Wolfeboro and a restaurant for lunch where I promptly ordered a large glass of ice tea! After lunch I felt more rested, and still in the mood for some hiking I located a trail I had read about in downtown Wolfeboro that went along an old railroad bed and beside what I think they call the back bay. It was beautiful too, much more public and park like, but still in its own way a lovely hike. I ...
