... our beloved Vinho Verde (Euro 1.39 a bottle) Mmmmm.... It was off to bed, to awake to another wet day. Discussions over breakfast (boiled eggs perfectly done if you please) (Lymºs writing this by the way....Iºm just typing...) led to us both deciding it was time to break camp and head to the Algarve with all haste, we were beginning to believe that the sun was an urban myth...
... getting to the place - one woman threatened to throw out her sat nav after taking the wrong turn numerous times. The rain continued and as the camp site only offered sites under oak trees we had a few very noisy nights with water dripping, acorns and oak apples falling on the caravan and a stream running underneath it we decided to move on.
Póvoa de Varzim, Porto, Portugal wrklein... to pass and eat lunch in car. We waited. And waited. Then started reading while we waiting. Four hours later we were still reading and waiting so we opened some of the cider we got the day before. Kevin went up to the campsite's store and grabbed some sleeping mats so we had some cushion below us while we slept. We then moved the tent to ensure it wasn't going to be in a big puddle as it continued to rain. Later during the rain, it was dinnertime so we went to the ...
Campo do Gerez, Braga, Portugal claesch... br> There are many dangers on the roads in Spain and Portugal - one being the "reasonable distance needed" to pass someone. There are times that the "passing zone" gives you just enough room to ruin everyone you meet's life. There is no way you could start passing someone and stop passing someone in the "passing zone" if you were going faster than 5 miles an hour. But perhaps they're meant for passing the ghost cows.
As we were driving through the area, there were a ...
... and sunny every day, and in fact the temperature gradually increased to the point where we were seriously considering swimming in the cold Atlantic! We weren't quite brave enough, but plenty of others were. We had arrived just before a bank holiday weekend, and the campsite, which was virtually empty when we arrived, soon filled up with Portuguese students celebrating the end of exams and families out to enjoy the ...

Barcelos, Northern Portugal, Portugal amidlifecrisis... swimming and exercising in their health spa. At night there wasn't much to do either, so we watched the sixth season of Sex and the City. To be honest, other than that our time was split between the buffet breakfast and a nearby shopping centre. We had a nice time in Porto, but feel we missed out on some of the real beauty that Portugal has to offer.
Porto, Portugal chris.daveyWe road-tripped back to Braga, where we had enough time to visit a few places up the hill, crumbling temples, pools and gardens, before we returned our rental. Then we walked Uli's way to school, past empty houses that are basically no houses anymore, just front walls. There are some pipes and wires and broken window panes or windows nailed shut, but that's about it. And right next to one of those ...
