... to this particular beach today and we had no choice but to take their much more expensive boat. However we had the last laugh as we walked away from at the harbour and Kam said "never get a man to do a woman's job." As the boat driver forgot to ask us to pay! It's definitely naughty but we had no money and the cash machines weren't working!

We endured a long day travelling back to Rio for our final stop in South America, before flying home in 3 days ...

After 8am breakfast, booked the return slow boat trip to Lopes Mendes, one of the best 10 beaches in Brazil, on the understanding I would be returning on the 2.30 boat, I booked the 9.30 departure as didn't want to be stuck burning on a shadeless beach.

The 45 min slow boat wasn’t too painful, but dropped you at Pouso, over the headland, from where it was a tough 20 min + jungle walk. I was told on the boat that the earliest return was actually 3.30pm, so fluffed around ...

We spent about 2 hours lying on the beach with Aisha, Dave, Martina as well as Silje and Egil (who also did the morning hike). We swam in the moderately warm water before taking a short hike (not as easy as described!) back to one of the beaches we had passed to catch a water ...

... whilst I was at Ilha Grande I got someone I met in the hostel to cut my hair because it had dreadlocks... maybe not the best decision I've ever made! So now I have to find to a hairdressers to get it sorted out... I have loved being in Brazil and I am so excited for the year to come! I hope you’re all enjoying the last of summer and enjoying having buckets of iced water thrown over your head ;)

    Lots of love from,

... so happy.. And Sting and Nadia were definitely loving life 2k14. Ha! We hired a taxi boat who took us back to the island, as we were definitely not trekking. We saw our fellow Trekkers on the boat next to us and all headed back to the hostel deciding to shower and prepare for the evening. Dinner was delicious, and we went for a BBQ at a local restaurant. Beef, fish, roasted vegetables and rice, just what I needed and at that point I was falling ...
