... no buses heading to town in time for the next departure so not until 8.10am could I leave for the next terminal (integraciao) for the 9am departure. Looked at other options on the north coast, but was the same story and continuing on to Recife not possible until 10am, so gave up and had a couple of espressos until 8.10am.

The bus covered ground I’d already covered, then once I’d changed, ...

... in Habibis, a local “Arab” chain and lingered as long as possible – all this walking in the blazing sun with heavy daypack, was killing – had left the biggie in luggage storage.

Our next stop was Maceió, a city but with a beach - we just can't seem to leave the coast! We had some difficulty finding our hostel, we managed to get on the right bus from the Rodoviaria but just not get off at the right stop (the directions from the hostel where not great in our defence). After Chris had walked around half the city we decided to get a cab to the hostel which in the heat of the day was a great idea. Maybe we were getting to used ...

... in the water prepared nice caldo de camarão. Didn't find a cheap ride to praia gunga on the other side of the river, so walked back through town stopping at the white bar on the beach for a really cold beer. The party on the beach was unfortunately finished when we got there at about 11 at night, only empty bottles and poeple leaving and i couldn't convince them to go to the other side of the town to find something ...
