Sand surfing fun

... lesson and in the water a perfect spot for learning to surf. Although if swimming you should not make the mistake we did by leaving all our things relitivly close to the water when the tide is coming in. oh dear. One of the activities that all the tourist who come to Jeri do, is the tour of the sand dunes, it was just to two of us in our buggy due to deciding late in the day that we wanted to go and for that reason got it cheaper then the ...

Jericoacoara

... with lots of cool little bars along the edge of the sand, people selling coconuts and tiny fishingboats clustered together out at sea. We spent our days walking along the beaches, swimming in the warm waters and eating icecream in the shade of the palm trees. As an adventurous break from our lazy days, one afternoon we decided to hire a sandboard and take to the dunes. Not helped by the makeshift board that we had hired, sandboarding turned out to be a ...

Days 38-41 Sand, Wind, and Surf by Carolyn Sauck

After a 24-hour marathon by bus/plane/bus/4x4, we finally arrived in Jericoacoara, and it was definitely worth the trip. Erin eating her favorite Brazilian dessert at 9 in the morning at the Fortaleza airport. Jericoacoara is a small beach town, isolated from the rest of Brazil by sand dunes (hence, the 45 minute 4x4 ride at the end of our journey). There are roughly 2,000 residents in ...

... brands and they all pretty much taste the same. I did buy some vodka to drink at the hostel to save some money (the $1us beers add up after awhile). The vodka here isn't as cheap as TAAKA back home, but the fruit juice mixers we buy make the drinks much tastier than with the Fresca or Diet Rites that we use at the Bellefontaine House. I still haven't found out when people sleep here though. Well I'm off to catch my plane and hopefully get some rest. Jondell

Day 4 (Angra Dos Reis)

As hot as the pits of hell....that's how to describe my skin tonight after it got burnt to a crisp today, and sylvia is the same so we look a right pair, people look at us and point in the street, and if we ever say we are from London they just nod and give us a disapproving look Today was an awesome trip through to Angra Del Rios, an awesome bay of 350 islands, 2 hrs south of Rio, what a beautiful place, we boarded a schooner and laid out in the sun to catch a tan, while we sailed to a ...

More falls

... When we got to the Devils Throat it was much wetter on the walkways than yesterday so we didn´t stay too long - and there weren´t as many green parakeets in the tree either. Chilled out by the pool for the rest of the day until Lilia collected us at 4 pm. We were annoyed with the hotel because Lilia had phoned the company about the DVD of the boat trip and had then told the hotel it would be delivered yesterday evening. The guy had come to ...

MERRY CHRISTMAS (and update)

... and beautifully landscaped place. There were horses there for riding, a pond full of geese, ducks and a solitary guinea pig as well as a rabid turkey in a separate enclosure. Now, I had never seen a turkey up close before. My first impression was 'damn, that's one big bird'. My second impression was 'damn, that ******* is trying to kill me'. Perhaps he was camera shy...or perhaps he didn't like how I laughed at him whenever he tried pecking through the cage ...
