... the sky was constantly lit with bolts of lightning. Two of
our volunteers, Lauren and Jarrett, left earlier in the week so now there are only
9 of us at the reserve. We have spent most of the week helping with
work in the tree nursery, tidying it up, weeding pots and planting
seeds. We also had the first paper mache class for the Young Rangers on
Thursday afternoon which went very well. There were around 20 children

... We also have a new pet called Olivia, a baby porcupine who lost her mother at a very early age. We are looking after her while she still needs milk, which will take at least 15 weeks, and then we will try to reintroduce her into the wild using a purpose-built pen the reserve has set up in the forest.

The weather forecast for the rest of the week is wet, but hopefully it will pick up by Saturday so that we can get away somewhere for the weekend!

from the cook´s two dogs which we´ve named Dizzee and Rascal. Speaking
of the cook, her troublesome 9 year old daughter, Mayara, has taken a
shine to most of the volunteers here, but mostly me at the moment as she found my
nano straighteners and make up and keeps coming into my room to use
them! She is of African decent though, so the strighteners don´t work
so well on her afro!

... up my own messes (I know you beg to differ parents, but on the whole.. I DO!) and now that there is hired help to do it I feel bad. I feel spoiled and like I´m taking advantage. The lady is the nicest ever and I know that this job provides her with good money to support herself and her family but it´s still strange.
