Largo de Infias Braga, Northern Portugal, Portugal, 4700-357 , 351-217-803-470
Feeling like a couple of drowned rats since having set ashore on the Continent, we felt it time to head south to Portugal with all haste. Having awoken to another damp morning, in Luarca, we quickly packed up and hit the road. Several hours later, and we found ourselves in Portugal, pitching our tent (the first time since leaving GB) on a pretty much deserted site (save for all ...
Vila Praia de Ancora, Northern Portugal, Portugal lymandannabelle... getting to the place - one woman threatened to throw out her sat nav after taking the wrong turn numerous times. The rain continued and as the camp site only offered sites under oak trees we had a few very noisy nights with water dripping, acorns and oak apples falling on the caravan and a stream running underneath it we decided to move on.
Póvoa de Varzim, Porto, Portugal wrkleinAfter a night of heavy rain in which there was occasionally a raindrop heavy enough to splash the condensation on the inside of the tent on us, it stopped raining. We woke up, showered, got ready for a great hike, got our backpacks ready, and headed to the top of hill out of our campsite. Once at the top, it thundered. Then Kevin realized he forgot his sunglasses. We headed back to the car for the sunglasses and as the clouds looked really threatening, decided to wait for ...
Campo do Gerez, Braga, Portugal claesch... a while while I slept in until 9:30. After showers (better than the last place - they had a bench to help out with the juggling) we were on the road by noon. We went into town to try and find velcro and eventually found some in a store that sold everything. I can't imagine anything smaller than a wheelbarrow this place didn't have -- and it had wheelbarrows, too. Kevin found this place in Potes after we had tried a seamstress and a couple of outdoors stores. The lady ...
Campo do Gerez, Braga, Portugal claesch... and sand. As a result, it was extremely noisy for a couple of days - in fact it reminded us of that manic weekend at Orgiva. So rather than sit in the sun and be deafened, we decided to drive out and explore the area, which proved to be far more scenic and interesting than we'd expected. At either side of the Minho estuary are hills, fortified since before Roman times. The towns along both riverbanks show evidence of ...

Barcelos, Northern Portugal, Portugal amidlifecrisis... exploring Braga a bit and doing some research for Spain. Braga is a very pretty little town a nice place to stroll around, although its a shame about the massive mcdonalds right in the middle of the centre square. Tommorow we leave to go back to Lisbon for two nights before flying to madrid on Monday. Hope you are all well, please keep the messages coming. Lots of Love xxxx
Braga, Portugal tammyjoe... m slowly forgetting what that feels like. The trip turned out to be a gastronomic feast. I tried so many new things, including the francesinha - it could only be described as a giant hot sandwich, which the Heart Foundation would give a big fat cross to. It was made up of a huge slice of beef, sausages and thick ham, topped with a thick blanket of melted cheese, swimming in a rich creamy tomato sauce. Even that was too much for me ...
